1. Josh, the funny thing is that being poz probably wouldn’t have become a ‘brotherhood” and a

4. No, roadtripboy, I’m not incorrect about medical advances. And I suspect that you already know that but are intent on holding on to out-dated fear.

   And I have no idea what Paul’s motivation is in promoting the “year of living positive”. The gesture is too political to be entirely monetary, but since I don’t know him I can’t say. However, the real money is in promoting fear through the many anti-AIDS organizations and companies. Have you checked to see how much money is funneled into “non-profit” organizations that owe their continued existence–and financial well-being–to the maintenance of a “crisis”? Do you have any idea how much money big pharma–the true leaches behind all medical scourges, including hiv–rakes in? The executives for AIDS organizations make mid to high six figures. The executives for pharma make mid to high seven figures.

   The real and damaging “bullshit” in the gay world is being slung by the fear-mongerers who are more than willing to sacrifice our culture and our identities in order to maintain their salaries. If you’re going to reduce everything to a matter of dollars, don’t you dare stop with the pornographers. The real sleaze is elsewhere. Do your research.

   Everything you list is either perfectly treatable or (in the case of hep c) therapies are advancing by leaps and bounds. If you’re going to be afraid, then how about this:

Firstly, having bareback sex with someone who has TOLD you they are hiv+ doesn’t mean you are 100% guaranteed infected….and don’t for a minute assume that because the guy told you he was negative he isn’t lying beyond belief – you have to decide. And understand that the risk of infection between someone who is hiv+ and hiv+/undetectable viral load is huge. That it the biggest griped amongst hiv+ men – I gave up my Manhunt paid membership after years of fighting with those money grabbers when they claimed no money to expand status field to include hiv+/Undetect as a status category.

   So, make your choice as all adult men must do. And learn my hard lesson – that guy’s lie about their status and you can/might/will still get infected. My “guy” disappeared after I got the shocking diagnosis after years of safe sex (monomgaous relationship with him or so I thought after 8 months), shared the news with him, his online profile changed to “ask me” and a month later he completely disappeared.

   Sorry to say it – but there is no 100% “safe sex” and risks are also there for HPV, Herpes, Hep C, etc. That’s why I laugh at the profiles that claim “disease free” when the stats on HPV infection are 40million+…and Herpes is 1 out of 5.
