I AM: ANTON DICKSON

Raise your hand if you’ve ever heard a Swenglish accent (a Swedish accent combined with a slight English accent). I was privileged to hear one from ever charming fuck stud Anton Dickson while Skyping (cam sex not included) for his entry in the I AM series. Here Anton shows off his trademark sense of humor and a deep intelligence.

Julian: Hi Anton! How are you this evening?

Anton: I’m well, thank you! I just got back from the gym and I have a sandwich, so I’m all good. Can you understand me? I’m originally from Sweden, so I have quite a marked accent; I sound a bit like the Muppets Swedish Chef.

J: Hahah, No, not at all. It sounds lovely. I can understand you perfectly.

A: Okay, good.

J: Let’s get started. So, for the few readers  out there who don’t know who you are, can you tell me a little bit about yourself?

A: Certainly. I’m Swedish and Croatian; I’m an ex-ballet boy; I’m an architect here in London; I’m a photographer; and I make videos.

J: Great, thank you. Now, I love asking people this question: how did you start in porn?

A: Oh, many, many years ago when I was still a dancer, I used to be a gogo dancer in clubs and bars. I used to get asked a lot if I wanted to do nude photos and be in porn, and I was always “no, no! I could never do that.” But I thought about it more and I decided I might as well be paid to do what I was doing anyway. It turned out to be a lot of fun!

J: And how old were you at the time?

A: Oh god, I was young. 19 or 20 years old I think.

J: I’ve followed you on Instagram for a while, and I notice that you post a lot of selfies, which are all really charming and fun. They remind me of something that Frida Kahlo said; that she painted so many self portraits because she was often alone and that she was the subject that she knew best. What’s your motivation for posting your self portraits?

A: Well, the self portraits started a long time ago, before Facebook or Instagram or anything. I was living in France at the time, and I was very lonely. It’s a very Swedish thing where we keep to ourselves and let people approach us, and nobody was approaching me in France! After a while I started to take these photos almost to just make sure that I was alive. It was a self preservation of sorts; a way to make sure that I was still in this world. As the years went by and I got older I just got used to taking them.

There was a three year period at one point where I went through a phase of very intense self evaluation, and the portraits really helped with that. A photo would bring me back to a certain time and place, and I could evaluate how much I had progressed since then.

J: What I love about your portraits is that you appear so happy in all of them.

A: Yea, I’m a pretty happy guy. That’s where I think the photos helped, too. I could see myself getting happier as my life progressed and that in turn made me happier. It has taken me a while to be happy with everything.

J: You’re such a creative person. You’re an architect, a photographer and videographer, a dancer, among other things I’m sure I don’t know about. Are sex and porn part of that creative outlet for you?

A: Yea, you know, I was always very sexual. I find it a way of expressing myself. It keeps me in touch with what I’m feeling. I think that comes as being part of being a dancer. Dancing is very expressive but it’s all very external. Sex is a very internal thing for me. It’s second nature, really. I do things before I even think of it. I value it very much.

I’ve been seeing this one guy recently, and it’s almost strange because he isn’t very sexual and I’m so sexual. I took a little bit of a break from porn and sex — a little bit, haha! Only since May — to walk him through it. It’s been so interesting. It’s a little bit like reclaiming or rediscovering innocence.

J: Is that guy why you were just in Paris?

A: Yea. I just got back.

J: What brought you to London originally?

A: Well, I was in France for three years — Northern France. I say France and people envision Paris or the south. I was in the cold north. I wanted to move to the south for the weather. Then I met Dino [Dean Monroe]. We dated, and he lived in London. We went back and forth between London and France for three months, then I found a dancing company in London. So I moved out here, and everything since then is history.

J: I have a lot of foreign friends and quite a few from Sweden. We all have something that we miss from home. What do you miss the most about Sweden?

A: Oh, let’s see, there’s a lot of Swedish food that I absolutely miss. The cakes and baked goods! I used to especially miss those, but, you know, they’ve just opened a Swedish bakery here, and I find myself going every weekend! Of course, I know I shouldn’t be. I’ve been trying to avoid carbs since I’ve been getting back to the gym, but those cinnamon rolls are just so good, haha! And of course some of the more common foods like Swedish meatballs you can find in any supermarket. It’s just a matter of finding the good stuff.

Saturday treat at the Swedish Bageriet in London.Of course, I miss my mom, dad, brother, and stuff, but I left Sweden for a reason. Sweden is very organized and the same. If you go up or down from what is, it’s very shocking. When I went to Stockholm, it’s such a small town mentality. By the time I was 18 or 19 I had slept with everyone! There was a point in my life where I thought I wanted to fit in with all of that, but then at some point I just didn’t want to fit in anymore.

When I got to France it was incredible. There was shit in the streets and people were shouting and expressing themselves!

J: Yea, I understand that. I think it’s funny that most of the time people miss the food from their homes. I know that I certainly miss Mexican food. So, I wonder, what turns you on most in a man?

A: The best way to make me cum is to kiss me passionately on the neck and ears or to lick my balls. It drives me wild. As far as types of guys, I’ve been into young guys lately. Sometimes when I watch porn, I like to watch old ladies with young guys — it’s such a weird thing, but it’s such a turn on! But like anything else, I guess, attractions and sexuality evolve and tastes change. When I was younger I was mostly bottom, then I became more top vers as I got older, and now I’m only a top.
