Google’s Blogger Reportedly Cracking Down on Porn

By Rhett Pardon for Xbiz.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Numerous users of Google’s Blogger report that they’ve received notices from the free blog-publishing service that it will no longer allow monetization of adult content.

“Please be advised that on June 30, we will be updating our content policy to strictly prohibit the monetization of adult content on Blogger,” a message from the Blogger Team said in messages to users. “After June 30, we will be enforcing this policy and will remove blogs which are adult in nature and are displaying advertisements to adult websites.

“If your adult blog currently has advertisements which are adult in nature, you should remove them as soon as possible as to avoid any potential terms of service violation and/or content removals.”

Current Blogger policies allow adult content on the service, but those blogs must not allow “a significant percentage of the content” that are linked to commercial porn sites.

The purported new policies strictly prohibit the monetization of adult content.

A move to curb profiting from porn on Blogger would be just the latest step by Google to target adult content. Earlier this month, Google altered its Google Glass developer policies to exclude sexually explicit material.

XBIZ calls and emails to Google representative weren’t returned by post time.
