Gay Welsh actor and composer of some of the most successful British musicals of the twentieth century, such as Glamorous Night (1935), The Dancing Years (1939), and King’s Rhapsody (1949). Ivor Novello starred in Hitchcock’s The Lodger (1927), notable for being the first of Hitchcock’s films about murder. Novello’s partner of 35 years, Robert Andrews, often starred alongside him in many of his musicals.
