Queer Portuguese musical icon whose fame has increased posthumously. António Variações was a pop musician known for his eclectic fashions, thick two-tone beard, and his music that could not be easily defined by one genre. Variações had no technical musical training, and rose to stardom after a television appearance.
Variações has become a highly beloved cultural icon in Portugal, where the biopic based on his life became the most successful film in the year 2019 when it was released.
