Unbecumming: what cum denial is teaching Sam Bridle about the joy of sex

Chastity. Edging. Cum denial. Not ejaculating during sex is becoming more of a mainstream practice than ever before. For porn model Sam Bridle, cumming has traditionally been all-important. But Sam’s now decided to deny himself ejaculation and it’s taught him to see sex and his own cock in a totally new light.

For nearly 10 years, Sam Bridle has been shooting scenes for Treasure Island Media. Now he’s embarking on a different path, as he answers a calling he says he feels from deep within, to go as long as possible sexually without ejaculating.

The longest he’s managed so far is an impressive 10 weeks, and right now he’s on six. His efforts have taught him a lot about himself and about sex.

He says it’s opened up an exciting path in his sexual exploration, taking him into a previously-unknown world of pleasure and sensation that he’s discovering more about every day.

Sam has been interested in the practice of edging since the moment of his earliest sexual exploration, but only in recent times has he attempted to take it further by avoiding ejaculation altogether.

He’s honed the act through sexual encounters both with himself and others, including the teachings of a 70-year-old friend who connected with him and helped him explore the world of slow and powerful cock worship.

“I basically am just trying this thing of indefinite orgasm denial, where I continue to have sex but removing climax from the equation and seeing where that takes me,” Sam says.

There are definitely times when I’ve been in these really crazy prolonged [edging] sessions feeling… insane things. At a certain point it can get really crazy.

“There’s a certain point where I become aware of my own smallness in relation to the universe… and I become aware of the limitation of my own body. There are these intense, unknowable things that I’m feeling and that’s kind of scary.

“There are definitely times when I’ve been in these really crazy prolonged sessions, feeling insane things. At a certain point it can get really crazy.

“While that can occur and that unsettling feeling of touching something unknown, that is not the majority of my experience. It is predominantly one of awe, and joy, and a sense of connection and deep, deep pleasure.”

Sam has held a strong interest in edging – the process of jerking off almost to the point of climax, and then stopping at the last moment – since the moments of his first sexual exploration.

Some of the most viewed edging-themed videos on certain porn sites feature the 29-year-old, dating back to his first forays into filming.

But over time he discovered a much deeper and more powerful sexual experience, unlocked through sustained edging over a period of weeks without any ejaculation.

Sam adds: “This was kind of the inevitable conclusion of my interest in edging. How far can I push it, you know, always just wanting to see what the limit is… before eventually realizing there is no limit in that the depth of pleasure is literally limitless.

“I’ve been into it for as long as I can remember you know when I was first developing my sexuality as a teenager and kind of realizing what I was into it was just very apparent to me… why have less when I could have more pleasure?

“I like to have sex for a long time, whether with myself or with others. There’s people who have been doing this for a long time and there’s esoteric spiritual aspects to this that people had throughout history.”

Aiding Sam on his journey, but by no means driving it, is the occasional use of psychedelic drugs.

“Psychedelics have this potential for expanding your mind, quite literally, and so with regard to this idea of sexuality being a sort of expanding of your mind and expanding of your experiences, I was naturally curious about how they might interact,” he adds.

“I approach it with a lot of caution. I think [drugs] are, psychedelics especially, deserving of a certain amount of caution and respect in that their ability to affect your brain and the way you think and feel is so powerful and you don’t want that to be in a negative way.

“The thing with psychedelics and with sexual experiences is they are distinct. I’ve arrived at these conclusions separately and those experiences separately so it’s by no means reliant upon one or the other to get there.”

Sam, who lives in California, has now set himself a goal of going as long as he can without ejaculating, continuing to fuck and edge as often as possible along the way.

He’ll be documenting the process through video diaries, edging videos, blogs and other updates to share what he learns. Follow @timporn on Twitter or visit Sam’s page to follow along.
